I believe in ghosts and if you live in New Orleans long enough chances are you will come to believe it in them as well. With ghosts in mind one cannot help but feel a growing sense of anticipation and excitement as the month of October winds down. There is no other city in the United States that is better suited for celebrating Halloween, and no other American city that is surrounded with so much spiritual energy.

Halloween in New Orleans is for adults, and much like Mardi Gras, it provides folks with the excuse to assume a different identity and to act out their darker fantasies, fantasies they would never admit to, let alone engage in, anywhere else.

New Orleans has a sexy, sinister edge that makes celebrating Halloween there so appealing and seductive.

The images here were made while I was roaming the streets and bars of the French Quarter, photographing whoever caught my eye or happened to be wearing an interesting costume.
